of the doctor in the 21st century?”
There are calls to create ‘globally competent and locally responsive’ health professionals. A global independent commission on the Education of Health Professionals for the 21st Century, published in Lancet in 2010, concluded that;
Becoming a doctor is not what it once was. In this new global context of clinical practice doctors are expected to function effectively in various roles- Clinician, Leader, Team member, Scientist, Manager etc.
